Science finds long life connection with cold

Temperature is not only related to health, it is directly related to age. Populations living in low temperatures are somewhat protected from many age-related diseases, such as Alzheimer’s and dementia, and their average life expectancy is longer than that of populations in warmer regions. This difference becomes clear when comparing the average life, but scientists started studying it recently. Researchers from the German University of Cologne believe that low temperatures are decisive in terms of longevity.

For this, simultaneous experiments started in the lab on insects and human cells named Sinorhabditis allergen. During this time, it was found that by staying on an average of 15 degree Celsius, the spoiled protein starts to be removed from the cells and new protein takes its place. It is called proteasome activator. One such activator has been identified as PA28y/PSME3, which helps prevent aging. For this, not very low temperature, but temperature of 15 to 25 degree Celsius is also sufficient.

Researchers believe that with the help of this result, new methods of aging can be worked on, as well as diseases such as dementia, Parkinson’s and Alzheimer’s can be relieved to a great extent. All these diseases are neurodegenerative diseases, in which bad proteins have a hand.
